Seriously disturbing but educational. It's hard to fathom such treatment today, but what haunted me the most was the fact that the items on display were THE items used. Oh if they could talk. Gives you shivers.
This may be the scariest place I've ever visited. Stumbled upon it one night in November 2016. It was one of the few places still open after dark. Reasonable admission price. And there was only one other couple touring the place well ahead …
It’s a small museum, that’s expected for the topic. It was very interesting and informative but not for the faint heart. Combination of good illustration and models. Informative on the history of different punishments. Has numerous information with different languages. Very happy I live in the modern day!
It's not a very big museum but it is very fun to go to, if you love history of torture methods you'll love this!
Smaller than other torture museums I've been to (like in Volterra) but the place has English translations and gives a unique local Napoli historical perspective and anecdotes.
Even if it's the smallest torture museum I've been in so far, and I've visited at least four, this one is by far the best simply because the torture tools have detailed explanations. This enables you to get back in the past and feel the evil that human is capable of. Really worth a visit!
Great little museum in the centre of Naples. Ideal for a 30-minute diversion.
It's a really small museum which you can do in 30 minutes or less. If you don't like really, you can do this in 10 minutes. It's an interesting place if you are into macabre stuff and would be a nice place to fill up an awkward short gap in …
Stumbled upon this and I can say that I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of information to a reasonable price.
So if you're ever in Naples, make sure to stop by the museum of torture.
Warning: not for the squeamish
Comparing it to other museums... it's small. But honestly it's so full of info and astonishing contents that we felt the size of the exhibition was perfect, especially for an admission fee of 5€.
